FSMTB Invites Public Comment on Proposed Model Practice Act

(Overland Park, Kan. – August 1) – The Federation of State Massage Therapy Boards (FSMTB) is seeking comments from interested parties on its proposed Model Practice Act (MPA).  The public comment period will be open for 15 days, beginning August 1, 2014 and concluding on August 15, 2014.

The FSMTB Model Practice Act was developed over a period of three years by an FSMTB Task Force comprised of representatives from regulatory boards and agencies. An initial opportunity for public comment was successfully concluded in June, 2014. The intent of the MPA is to provide a comprehensive resource to FSMTB member boards and to assist regulators with statutory language based upon the collective wisdom of the massage regulatory community.  The FSMTB is seeking constructive feedback in order to consider numerous perspectives before finalizing the document.

To facilitate public comment, the FSMTB is providing instructions and an online form for submission of comments on its website at www.fsmtb.org.

The Federation’s mission is to support its member boards in their work to ensure the practice of massage therapy is provided to the public in a safe and effective manner.
