The Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation is proud to congratulate one of own for winning the AMTA’s Jerome Perlinski Teacher of the Year Award: Regina Cobb, director of the massage therapy program at Community College of Rhode Island (CCRI).
Regina has been the program director at CCRI since 2001, having earned the program COMTA-accreditation in 2005. She received a master’s degree in clinical social work from Simmons College and her Bachelor of Arts in both psychology and criminal justice from C.W. Post University. While much of her time at CCRI is focused on the administrative management of the program, she demonstrates a strong commitment to the students. Regina teaches the physiological and emotional benefits of therapeutic massage in courses such as pathophysiology, medical terminology, deep tissue massage and hospital based oncology massage. She also teaches an introductory class on therapeutic massage and classes on the fundamentals of scar tissue and pregnancy massage.
AMTA’s Jerome Perlinski Award is one way AMTA recognizes the importance of a quality massage therapy education to continually advance the next generation of massage therapists. “Regina is clearly dedicated to giving massage students at CCRI the highest level of initial massage therapy education,” says AMTA President Nathan Nordstrom.
Regina will receive her award during the AMTA 2016 National Convention, to be held October 26-29 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She will also be recognized during a celebration luncheon on Teachers Day Friday, October 28. Learn more about Teachers Day.
