Commission Actions
The Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation (COMTA) has concluded its October 21-22, 2020 Commission meeting via conference call. By action of the Commission, schools noted below have received the following:
Change of Location Final Approval for Branch:
- New Hampshire Institute of Therapeutic Arts (Harrison, ME) – 103 Norway Road – Harrison, Maine 04040
Extension of Accreditation Grant
Florida School of Massage (Gainesville, FL) – the institution’s current grant of accreditation is extended to April 31, 2022
As published, a March 17, 2020 guidance document from the USDE states that accrediting agencies have the discretion to extend terms of accreditation, for a reasonable period of time during the COVID-19 interruption. Due to an extended period of interrupted educational and operational activities since March 2020, the Commission granted a six-month extension on the renewal of accreditation for the institution.
