The Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation (COMTA) would like to bring your attention to the following important announcements as a result of its April 18-19, 2018 Commission meeting:

  1. COMTA Commissioner Election – The Commission will be holding an election this summer to fill the following vacancies:
  • Administrator (2)
  • Educator – Massage
  • Educator – Esthetics
  • Practitioner – Massage

School members will receive electronic election ballots in July, and Commissioners elected to positions in this cycle will begin their four-year term in October 2018.

  1. COMTA’s Mission – As part of our efforts in strategic planning and considering the future growth and direction of COMTA, the staff and Commission facilitated a passionate and thoughtful discussion about the vision, mission and values of the organization. As an outcome of that discussion, the Commission voted to approve the following updated mission statement:

COMTA elevates and upholds standards of excellence in massage therapy/bodywork and esthetics education through specialized accreditation, benefiting students and schools, practitioners, and the public.

  1. COMTA-Endorsed Curriculum for Esthetics – In February 2018, the Commission formally voted to approve offering the COMTA-Endorsed Curriculum status for esthetics programs and institutions in addition to those for massage/bodywork.

Please see complete information and details on how to apply for COMTA-Endorsed Curriculum on our website by clicking here.
