Massage Therapy Training

OverviewMassage Therapy Curriculum

What to Expect

Becoming a massage therapist requires formal training, both in a classroom and on-the-job. You’ll need to pass a practical and written exam, and become licensed in the state in which you’d like to practice.

Choosing A School

When evaluating a program, there are many factors to consider: quality of the faculty and facilities, financial stability of the school, and job-search assistance provided to graduates. Be sure to verify that any school you’re interested in is accredited or endorsed by COMTA. This will ensure that the institution or program has demonstrated high quality.

Curriculum Requirements

COMTA has identified skills, which we refer to as competencies, all capable massage therapists should have at the end of their training. The classes required by all COMTA accredited and endorsed institutions/programs teach and assess these competencies.
