Recommendations for the Reauthorization of the Higher Education Act
The National Advisory Committee on Institutional Quality and Integrity (NACIQI) met by conference call today. The NACIQI advises the Secretary of Education regarding which accrediting agencies meet the Secretary’s criteria for recognition and other related matters. The meeting today focused on the draft report that the NACIQI had created earlier on their recommendations for the reauthorization of the Higher Education Act (HEA). The draft of the report had been made available for public comment and the committee discussed those comments today and voted on the final draft of the report. The draft report can be reviewed here, and the public comments can be viewed here. The report was adopted with one change, recommendation number 8 was removed. The final report will be available on the NACIQI website when the final editing for removal of item number 8 is complete.
