The Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation (COMTA) has concluded its April 23-25, 2012 Commission Meeting.

By action of the Commission, the following schools have received renewal or initial of accreditation, placed on show cause, placed on probation or completed a substantive change process (renewal schools placed on show cause, probation or deferral are considered accredited institutions):

Initial Accreditation: (Accreditation expires April 2017)
Bristol Community College – Therapeutic Massage Program (Fall River, MA)

Initial Accreditation with Conditions: (Accreditation expires April 2016)
Rizzieri School for the Healing Arts (Marlton, NJ) – This institution has been accredited conditionally for a period of four (4) years. The maximum period for COMTA accreditation is five years, but the Commission must take into account the fact that the Rizzieri School for the Healing Arts site visit was more than a year ago and the school had two periods of (6) month deferrals. The five years of our standard grant is supposed to be from the point of comprehensive review including a full site visit. Therefore the Commission made the period of accreditation April 2012 – April 2016 so that it is not more than five years before the Rizzieri School for the Healing Arts next comprehensive review and visit.
