Revocation of Accreditation

The COMTA Appeal Committee convened on March 17, 2022 to hear the appeal of the Institute for Therapeutic Massage of the COMTA decision to revoke the institution’s accreditation. Having found that the institution did not meet its burden of demonstrating that the Commission’s decision was arbitrary and capricious, not based on substantial evidence on the record, or that the Commission failed to follow its published procedures as set forth in the COMTA Policy and Procedures Manual, the Appeals Committee unanimously affirmed the decision of the COMTA Commission to withdraw the accreditation of the Institute for Therapeutic Massage for failure to demonstrate financial stability as required by Standard XII (A) (1) & (2) and for failure to meet the requirements for Title IV Financial Aid Administration as required by Standard XV(A).
The effective date of revocation has been revised to June 30, 2022 to accommodate the institution’s approved Teach Out Plan for currently enrolled students.
The institution has an opportunity to provide a comment to accompany this decision announcement. Any comment will be posted on the COMTA website no later than May 9, 2022.
