The Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation (COMTA) would like to bring your attention to the following announcements discussed at the January 24, 2014 meeting:

1. Appendix A.3: Fee schedule Two proposed fee schedules were discussed by the Commission for immediate 2014 changes and further revisions to be implemented in 2015. The Commission approved the proposed fee schedule changes. Because the changes for 2014 are going into effect with short notice, any applicable Sustaining Fee increases will be given extra time for payment. Schools and programs will receive two invoices: one for the amount due March 1 and a second with the increased amount due September 1.

The changes for 2015 are based on a change in the schedule of fee collection for renewal. We would like your input about the change. Our intention is to make fees more manageable for schools to continue their accreditation year after year. Please see the survey linked below to tell us if our plan would help your school keep up with accreditation fees.

2. Change in Accreditation Grant Length: Call for Comment Survey The Commission voted to extend the grant of initial and renewal accreditation grants from five (5) years to seven (7) years, pending Call for Comment and final vote. To contribute feedback to this change, please follow the link to complete the brief two-question survey. If approved, the change would be effective March 2014.

Be sure to check the COMTA website regularly for actions and alerts. The Commission updates all pertinent actions and alerts on its website. Please promptly inform COMTA if your school/program has any new contact information.

If you have comments regarding any of the schools on this list please contact the COMTA office. For additional information concerning this memorandum, please contact Kate Zulaski, Executive Director, at 202-895-1518 x849, or via email at kzulaski@comta.org.
