The Commission on Massage Therapy Accreditation (COMTA) has concluded its July 31, 2014 Commission Meeting.  By action of the Commission, the following schools have received:

Change of location:

  • Blue Sky School of Professional Massage – (Madison, WI)
    The Commission accepted the site visit report and confirmed approval of the Auxiliary Classroom Change of Location in Madison, WI, effective immediately.  The new address is recorded as:
    6225 University Avenue, Ste 101 &104, Madison WI 53705
  • Institute for Therapeutic Massage – (Bloomfield, NJ)
    The Commission accepted the site visit report and confirmed approval of the Auxiliary Classroom Change of Location from Newark, NJ to Bloomfield, NJ, effective immediately.  The new address is recorded as:
    o 1255 Broad Street, 101B, Bloomfield NJ 07003

Change of Ownership/Institutional Control:
The following school’s accreditation status has been changed from Provisional to Accredited

  • International Professional School of Bodywork – (San Diego, CA)
    The Commission accepted the site visit report and confirmed approval of the change of institutional control.

Removal of Probation:

  • Rizzieri School for the Healing Arts – (Voorhees, NJ)

New Program Approval

  • Ann Arbor Institute of Massage Therapy – (Ann Arbor, MI)
    The Commission provided Interim Approval for the institution’s new Sports Massage and Personal Training Program (910 hours), pending completion of the Self-Study Report and site visit.

Administrative Accreditation Grant Extension: Programmatic
This is an administrative extension of one year due to transitions occurring with the COMTA standards and online submission system, and will extend to October 2016.  This extension is for programmatic accreditation status only.

  • Moraine Valley Community College – Therapeutic Massage Program (Palos Hills, IL)

 

Please note:  Renewal schools placed on show cause, probation or deferral are considered accredited institutions.
